ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Who Can Participate?
This opportunity is open to all female engineers, technicians, technologists, artisans, and other related professionals working in Zimbabwe.
Professional Requirements
Nominees should be registered with the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE) or any other recognised professional associations, such as SAZ, AEEZ, or the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe.
For those sectors where registration isn't a requirement—like artisans or technicians—verification will rely on their qualifications and professional reputation.
Industry Engagement
Nominees should be actively engaged in Zimbabwe's engineering industry, spanning areas like mining, construction, manufacturing, ICT, energy, and more.
Demonstrated Impact
It's essential for nominees to showcase their impact, leadership, mentorship, or innovative contributions within their respective fields.

NOMINATION PROCESS
Complete Nomination Form
Fill out the official nomination form online via our website.
Prepare Supporting Documents
Include a detailed CV, proof of professional registration, and supporting materials (e.g., testimonials, project summaries).
Submit Nomination
All submissions are automatically processed once you complete the online form.
Verification
All submissions will be vetted in collaboration with ZIE and other professional bodies.
Important Notes
- Nominations may be submitted by peers, employers, or via self-nomination.
- Nomination deadline: 31 May 2025.
- Late submissions will not be considered.
- Only shortlisted nominees will be contacted.
JUDGING & AWARDING
Selection Process
The judging panel will include industry leaders, senior engineers, and representatives from ZIE.
Criteria: Professional excellence, leadership, community impact, innovation, and mentorship.
Timeline
Finalists will be announced in early June 2025.
Winners will be revealed at the Women in Engineering Awards Gala on 23 June 2025.

Eng. Joy Makumbe
Keynote speaker and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport & Infrastructural Develpment, Eng. Makumbe has 18+ years' experience in water and sanitation projects across Africa. She is committed to building sustainable infrastructure that changes lives.

Eng. Farai Mavhiya
President of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers, Eng. Mavhiya is also a Director at Chisipo Consultants. She is known for promoting excellence in engineering and championing young women in the profession.

Dr. Tammy Mary Stevenson
Chair of CMED Zimbabwe and Vice President of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers. A Professional Engineer and ECZ Fellow, Stevenson brings decades of leadership in manufacturing and engineering governance.

Eng. Beverly Nyakutsikwa
Chair of Women in Engineering Zimbabwe and lecturer at UZ, Eng. Nyakutsikwa teaches water, sanitation, and project finance. She’s known for mentoring women and driving excellence in engineering education.

Eng. Irene Kamutero
General Manager – Subsidiaries at Masimba Holdings, overseeing quarry mining, precast, steel fabrication, plant, and property. She brings over 20 years of experience leading national infrastructure projects and sits on key boards including NUST and MOTDC.

Chiedza Chigombe
Managing Director at Kubota Engineering, Chigombe is President of the Engineering, Iron and Steel Association of Zimbabwe and a multi-award-winning entrepreneur known for her leadership and advocacy.

Eng. Dorothy Madziya
Director of Engineering Services in the Ministry of Local Government & Public Works. With over 18+ years' experience, Madziya specialises in infrastructure, operations, and quality systems across multiple sectors.

Dr. Mary Chikuruwo
Director at SIRDC, Dr. Chikuruwo holds a PhD in Reliability Engineering and leads work in automation and industrial systems. She started as a fitter and turner and now shapes innovation in Zimbabwe’s manufacturing sector.

Eng. Mollin Siwela
A Chemical and Metallurgical Engineer, Eng. Siwela has worked in mining operations and research for over a decade. She leads technical work for IMPACT’s planetGOLD project and promotes sustainable mining practices.

Eng. Wendy Mawere
Senior Project Manager and seasoned Civil Engineer. Strong track record in large-scale infrastructure delivery, Mawere is known for her strategic leadership and commitment to excellence in project execution.

Sandy Bare
CEO of Santar Trading & Projects, Sandy leads civil and structural builds for both public and private clients. With 5+ years of experience, she is also studying Project Management at the University of Cape Town.

Nyasha Manyika
A civil and water engineer, Manyika is passionate about youth mentorship and career development. She is also a budding entrepreneur, working to expand access to STEM opportunities across Africa.
